Every piece of information you need, is on the web. Simply Google, "How To" and viola you will find an answer. For building free web traffic, this is a wonderful source. I'm going to give you my five favorite ideas and by all means, Google for a few more.
1. Of course number one is write articles. There are dozens of free spots to post your articles. Just make sure that each one is unique. It's not a good idea to write one article and submit it to 10 free article directories. Be original.
2. Social Networking sites are a great place to build traffic. I use three at the moment and they are in no particular order, Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn. Now, depending on what your blog is about, you may want to skip LinkedIn and use something like MySpace.
Do a little research to see where you would find your target audience.
3. Content on a regular basis. Your blog needs this for several reasons. First of all if you start getting regular visitors and they do not see any posts for a long period of time, they may assume you have won the lotto and retired. Or something of that nature. Secondly, the search engines are looking for content and the more you provide, then you will be on their radar.
4. Commenting on other blogs. Now this is a great one, however you must be careful. It's best if you have something positive to say and are truly trying to help others. Let's say you are in the home based business niche and you come from an accounting background. Think how helpful it would be if you found other blogs in a similar niche and helped people with income tax tips related to having a business in their home. Help others and you will be helped.
5. Send out press releases. You just never know who will pick up your press release and start driving traffic to your site. If you show knowledge in your area and write in a friendly manner, perhaps, write like you talk ïŠ then it's possible a major newspaper could pick up your story to share with its readers.
Well there you have it, five great ways to drive traffic to your blog. Spend a little time doing research. I have a file full of free software, websites and such that I go back to all the time when I need something. I found all of it on Google.
